Food Review: Baja Fresh Mexican at Rendezvous Grand Hotel, Singapore

Met up with bestie for dinner last night. When she asked where, I had the craziest idea that we could go and try Baja Fresh - a Mexican restaurant at Rendezvous Grand Hotel near Dhoby Ghaut. My colleagues had tried it beofre and said it was good, and I had just passed by that place the day before. Always wanted to try and when the opportunity came up, we went for it. Or at least, to check it out to decide.

I think I've eaten Mexican food for a grand total of once in my life previously.

I was expecting a restaurant, like Chili's, but turns out it is a fast food style concept.
That's great, because it is more casual and relaxed. Order at the counter, pay and they will serve it to you when ready. In we went!

We had a confusing time ordering the food at the counter though - what's the difference between a burrito and a taco and a fajita and what not?! The lady at the counter was real patient with us however and explained the best she could. In the end we went in blind, anyhow ordered, and hoped for the best.

They also served us a small bowl of taco chips, which goes with 4 different salsas which is free flow.
The Salsa 6 chiles is ZQ's fav and it is quite spicy but not too much. Rather enjoyable spice. Next my fav is actually the least spicy one, the Pico de Gallo, which is just tomatoes and all.

The restaurant prides itself in using the freshest of ingredients. Gotta say, that's great.

Waited for a bit and our orders arrived. ZQ had ordered the Shrimp Burrito with Enchilada add-on ($2.95). The add-on basically adds chips, salsa, sour cream and cheese, ALL over the plate.

This is how it looks like. Whooosh! The burrito is very nice - they were very generous with the shrimps, and there's a sort of curry sauce that was drenched on the burrito that made it soggy, but tasty.

It was huge. This was her face when we got the dish.

I had ordered the Chicken Fajita.. I think. Very manageable. It was very tasty too! The chicken was a tad dry, but the whole thing was flavourful and the cheese is sinful but feels a bit like I am eating pizza.

Here's the 2 side by side for size.

Definitely give this a large thumbs up! I enjoyed the food and it was such an adventurous departure from the usual. It costs around $32 for the both of us - including a large coke each. Try it and let me know if you liked it too!

Oh and something random and cute - spotted this mini cooper just beside Baja Fresh at a bistro/bar/restaurant called Fullhouse. Candy striped car, very attention grabbing!

Have a great day everyone!
