Food Review: Spizza Mercato opens at Capitol Piazza #B2-52 Singapore 178905

I'm sure many of you must have tried or heard of Spizza. For me I've always thought that the one on Gemmill Lane/Club Street's really decent for some flat crusted European style pizzas. That's why I was pleased to learn that a new Spizza restaurant, Spizza Mercato, has opened up at the City Hall area at the brand new Capitol building basement extension, Capitol Piazza.

Spizza Mercato is slightly different though because it contains a retail/grocery section, hence the word 'mercato' which means market. So you can also pop by and by some fresh ingredients, wine/beers and even cooking utensils.

We tried a variety of dishes, and here they are, along with reasonable pricing. What I liked is how Spizza caters for gluten-free, vegetarian or any other preferences.

  • Burratina $22
  • Insalata Greca $12.80
  • Gondola Isabella (any pizza other than the sweet pizzas can be made into the gondola) $25
  • Gluten-free Donna Pizza $23
  • Green Spinach "triangoli' stuffed with spinach and mushrooms in porcini & cream sauce $18
  • Squid ink Taglierini with mixed seafood in tomato sauce, part of the 'create your own pasta', $20
  • Panna Cotta $8
  • Tiramisu $9.50

My favorites of the night has to be the freshly made burratina and the tiramisu. Pastas and pizzas-wise, well it depends on what you create or order that you like!

Great casual dining restaurant for some pizzas and pastas, even for the most finicky tastebuds. Not the most authentic or best in Singapore (competition is tough!) but pleasant enough to warrant a visit if you're hungry and in the area.
