Media Event: Cin Cin Gin Bar opens at Oasia Hotel Downtown, 100 Peck Seah Street, Singapore 079333

Gin is one of those spirits that I have learned to appreciate as I grow older, along with whisky. I still can't really appreciate the subtleties of tequila or vodka, but a nicely poured gin and tonic nowadays really could hit the spot. That's why I was so pleased to attend the opening of a new gin bar in the Tanjong Pagar area, in the newly established (at least, to me!) Oasia Hotel Downtown. 'Cin cin!' is what you will say when you're toasting someone over drinks, by the way!

The bar is indoors, but on the left side it opens out onto the street, for some alfresco breeze. Very relaxed, comfortable and yet not scruffy.

Here's their light bites menu. Snacks are available from 5pm to 10.30pm. We tried the pork sliders (awesome!), seared ahi tuna (yum) and black cod ceviche (ok only). I reckon the charcuterie platter will be a great post-work drink accompaniment.

We sampled a 3 types of gin cocktails that night made with Bulldog Gin - straight up Gin and Tonic, a Martini and the Cin Cin Cocktail ($20) – which contained togarashi-infused Lillet Blanc, Bittermens hopped grapefruit bitters and grapefruit peel. Prices range from $20 and up for drinks. Their cocktail menu is immense and perfect if you want to make your own Martini!

Even though prices are slightly high, the quality and variety of spirits available there makes it a dream bar for gin lovers. I love the location and ambience of the place as well. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a drink in Tanjong Pagar that is NOT a smelly Korean joint or pub.
