Food Review: Tendon Kohaku's Natumi Summer Tendon at Suntec City

I love seasonal items from established brands. Why? Because it allows us to sample the latest and freshest ingredients and its made all the more special because its not readily available! Tendon Kohaku, the famous Tendon brand that has been around for two years,  has just released their Summer Tendon called the Natumi Tendon, which is available from today, 2 July to 30 September 2018, priced at only S$17, at all 3 branches. I tasted it and I liked it.

There are some unique ingredients for this tendon, other than the standard chicken and prawn tempura. There's eggplant, corn with scallop kakiage and oba leaf, as well as a cherry tomato! These ingredients added that touch of lightness to the bowl.

You could also opt for either white Japanese rice, or mixed grain, which makes this extra healthy! It also comes in spicy or non-spicy sauce. For me, the unagi in the bowl was rather fishy so if you are already not a fan of unagi, you can ask them to exclude it (cannot be replaced with anything). Otherwise, have it with spicy sauce!

I really enjoyed the scallop and corn kakiage on the seaweed slice. It was crunchy and so umami!

For tendon fans, note also there's a special Golden Tendon for just $10 from 6-8 July at their Suntec City branch. See my Instagram post below for more details!

I really like Tendon Kohaku's tendons because the tempura is always so well done and light without smelling like overnight grease, and its made better with their new seasonal Natumi Tendon! Go try it if you're curious (skip the unagi)!
