Italian Restaurant Review: In Piazza at 28 Stevens Rd, #01-04/05, Singapore 257878

In Piazza is an Italian restaurant on Stevens Road that was recommended to me by a dear friend who went, "you should go because its so underrated (i.e. food's good but not crowded)!" And of course I trust my friend and found her statement to be entirely true! The place was a little out of the way (I took a private hire car and still got lost trying to find it in the compound) but took a bus back from RGS after orienting myself. Good news for folks with doggos - their alfresco area is dog-friendly which means you can enjoy a meal with your best friend there!

Here's their menu from their website. As you can see prices are typical of Italian restaurants in Singapore.

We started with a rocket salad with such sweet cherry tomatoes, balsamic vinegar and a big fresh ball of buffalo mozzarella cheese. I don't know if they took it off the menu or I just couldn't find it. Price is probably $20+. Very nice start to the meal though! 4/5

We then had what I think is quite a strong suite of In Piazza's - the pizza. The Diavola (S$23) was made fresh with the big in-house oven and the leopard spots on the pizza crust was not too much or dark, and the crust was just the perfect thickness for a simple salami, tomato sauce and cheese topping. It was so good especially when hot. 100% would recommend their pizzas. 5/5

We also tried 2 pastas initially between the 4 of us (oh and shared a really smooth bottle of Italian white wine recommended by them). The first is this Orecchiette della zia (S$24), which is ear-shaped pasta in saffron sauce with minced pork sausage and crispy garlic. I really liked the one from Italian Osteria (review here), so I thought I'll give this a try! Unfortunately I think iO wins, but this was decent even though it got a bit gerlak after a while. Everything works but it just was too much for 1 or even 2 people. 3.5/5

There's also the very indulgent Pappardelle della Piazza (S$28) featuring bouncy homemade pappardelle pasta with generous chunks of crabmeat, garlic, chilli and spinach. This one actually had a bit of a kick from the chilli that cuts through the pink sauce. Would recommend this over the orrechiette, but still found it slightly too heavy. 4/5

Feeling like I had space just for a bit more pasta, I caved and ordered the Tagliatelle alla bolognese (S$24) with traditional beef ragout Bolognese sauce and parmesan cheese, but swapped out the tagliatelle with spaghetti. It worked so well just as a comforting, classic pasta dish. The meat was so generous as well we had chunks of it left over after all the noodles were gone. I think this was my favourite amongst the 3 pasta dishes (though the pizza still wins overall). 4.5/5

We didn't have any desserts cos we were stuffed by then. Overall it was only $55 per pax nett between four of us for 3 pastas, 1 pizza, 1 starter and a bottle of wine which was totally worth it. I would 100% recommend for anyone looking for a good Italian restaurant in the center of Singapore to go check them out! Here's my TikTok for you to look at the space.
