Cafe Hangout: The Cheesecake Cafe at Siglap, Singapore

The east might most probably triumph the west of Singapore when it comes to culinary and coolness factor. This is proven right this time when a friend introduced The Cheesecake Cafe to me. It is a small unassuming cafe along a stretch of bistros and cafes in the Siglap area. You will hardly think anything of it if you go past without looking closely since the sign tentage is all mossy, and it looks quite dark inside.

Once you step into the place however, you will be transported to the Victorian era. Or an antique shop. But it is certainly a different experience from the other cafes nowadays simply because the decor is just so unique!

The walls were covered with oil paintings with gilded frames. Very impressed with stone busts that dot the entrance as well.

It was quite empty on a Saturday late afternoon though the crowd progressively poured in and was full house by 9.

There was a green tea chocolate cheesecake special that day, but my friend went with the classic Peach with Jelly, which sounds really interesting from the usual america or oreo cheesecakes.

The menu is filled with cakes, teas and coffees. I suspect the beverage prices are jacked up SO much because people just order 1 cuppa and sit there for eternity.

I had latte to go with the cheesecake, which I thought was quite fragrant and light. However it really is nothing THAT special, the decor and ambience made up for it instead.

and that concludes yet another venture into the East. Visit it if you are around the area looking for a nice quiet place for a chat with a cuppa.
