Food Review: &Made by Bruno Menard at Pacific Plaza, 9 Scotts Rd, Singapore

I was tipped off to a new kid on the block called &Made by a fellow foodie who told me that this place has burgers which are to die for. It was also 2 weeks old, which is really new. Add on to the fact that it is opened by a 3-star Michelin chef Bruno Menard. Of course I had to go check it out!

Situated just behind That CD Shop at Pacific Plaza, I was actually expecting something a bit more formal, but turns out that it is a very casual style bistro, but not to say it is THAT casual. In fact, I really loved the decor.

One thing to note is that this place does not do reservations so it is walk in only! When we walked in on a week day night at 8 there was just a few more tables left, so lucky us. The space got a bit more empty after that though so I guess if you don't want to wait then either come early or late.
The restaurant had little knick knacks around that gave it character, like the giant & sign at the inner entrance. You can access it either from within the mall or from the side.
Here's the inner section. There is one more slightly smaller upper deck that I was sitting at. So in fact it is quite big! The decor is done in black, white and red which are really nice simple colors.

I really like the bunch of light bulbs strung on the ceiling. Now who needs lamp shades or expensive lights when you can do this?

There are graffiti decals on the glass panels of the restaurant too which are fun to look at. Very atari.

And here's the menu! I'm sorry if the prices are not too clear. Its around 16 or 18 for salads, and 19 to low 20s for burgers. They also have sandwiches and some desserts. It is all very American diner style, but with touches of decadence such as the "Nice" salad and Truffle fries.

Ah I did a close up of their burgers. $19-25, 5 types! Quite an international range don't you think?

They also offer some pastries in the day which I thought was quite cute.

So we ordered the "B" Burger ($19) and the Macaroni & Shrimp Salad to share because we didn't want to overdo the food amount!

I really enjoyed the Macaroni & Shrimp salad. It was bursting with flavour and the dressing is light but just nice. The black bits you see are seaweed, which is a surprising addition.

Look, the macaroni and shrimp! Its finely chopped shrimp which is sweet and fresh, with mini macaroni in a cream sauce. So yummy. Really addictive!

Next, the "B" burger! Don't it look amazing? The melted cheese that just spilled a little over to the side.

Coated with BBQ sauce and layered with cheese and onions, it is a simple classic burger made with quality ingredients. The bun was alright, but the focus is on the patty. The beef patty was juicy, medium rare and very good.

One thing about this whole meal was the fries however. They were simply TOO salty! It was the saltiest fries I've ever had, and we paid extra $3 to have it in Truffle too! I would have returned the fries and gotten some new ones but we were already halfway into them. Next time I will if it happens. So when you order do remember to ask them to go easy on the salt.

Here's the cross section in case you are curious. Isn't it gorgeous? I really enjoyed it.

Definitely would recommend this place if you have a hankering for good old American burgers that has the 3-star Michelin quality stamp on it. Enjoy the contemporary style and let me know if you liked it!
