Went to have Indian food with my primary school classmates during our weekly Sunday brunch/lunch session last week at Zaffron Kitchen at Katong. Introduced by WX because he tried and liked it. Apparently they do very reasonable weekday lunches! Unfortunately, it was a weekend lunch so there were no discounts this time.
I've always walked past the place when I went to Katong, so I'm glad we stepped in this time to try the food.

The decor of the place is very well done, and very New York loft style. Not the traditional Indian style.
It is also very child friendly with a play area for children! How thoughtful.
Well onto the food! It is very classic Indian cuisine and we ordered all the usual hits. The cauliflower was probably a bit more special. It had a really interesting texture - soft and creamy, with a sharp hit of spice.
Of course, what is an Indian meal without butter chicken? It is very good - creamy and slightly sweet. Not spicy at all. In the background you can see Palek Paneer, the cottage cheese spinach dish which I also love. Together these 2 dishes can rule my dining table.
Of course, you need naan to soak all of those goodness up! We had butter and garlic naans. Slightly charred on the underside, but overall chewy and soft. Yum!
And this is our entire table! We also ordered the chicken briyani that came covered in a naan-like wrap. The briyani rice was really fragrant, but the chicken was a tad dry if I am not wrong.
To sum up - Zaffron Kitchen is a great place if you are thinking of having some Indian food in the East. Even though prices are wayyy above what you would pay for in India for example, you can be assured of good quality. Do also try to catch their value for money lunch sets during weekdays if you work around the area. I wish I could!

And ending off this short review - a photo of BenBen, Wx and Cherin's newest toy poodle addition to their family! She's really cute, but Toto, the other toy poodle dog in the house, cannot stand her.
Everyone all together now - AWW!
