A new hipster cafe! (Is it ok to call them that? I don't meant it in the derisive manner. It's simply what I call Third-Wave Independent Cafes nowadays). This time round the name Drury Lane draws from a particular location from London. Why? I don't know. It sure makes remembering easy though!
I checked out the cafe today as it was the Grand Opening Day and everything's 50% off. The decor of the place is quite organic but modern. Quite well-ventilated even though the 'kitchen' is right beside the counter where they were frying up food. Might get a bit nasty if there's too much cooking going on.
They take their coffees seriously though. You can tell just by the way they name the coffee. Blend no. 94. I wonder if anyone tried Blend 1-93.
When we got there at 2pm, it was suitably crowded but not packed. Most of their muffins were sold out by then though!
There's also seating upstairs, which is highly recommended if you want to escape the food smell. It looks like a tea house upstairs actually. Might get a bit rowdy during weekends, I expect. Just like CSHH.

Unfortunately, their drinks menu is rather limited because 90% of it is caffeinated. The homemade daily cooler, the only non-caffeine drink, was sold out by the time we got there. They should consider serving other drinks such as iced lemon tea, lemonade or even Orangina. It would be good for kids too.
Finally -- the food! We ordered the Big Breakfast. It wasn't too bad for $6 bucks (50% off). The baked beans had a very Indian-spiced taste to it. Everything else was pretty good. Would have preferred a brioche with some butter/jam and some salad, but hey this works.
Despite the gazillion cafes and bistros in Duxton and Tanjong Pagar area, Drury Lane is a welcome addition that hipsters and all will rejoice at because it has decent coffee, simple and affordable grub and a nice chillax atmosphere upstairs.
