So I finally checked out Carpenter and Cook recently after hearing so much about it. Located near Bukit Timah Beauty World, it is a quaint little cafe that also sells furniture, hence the name. It is also a perfect place to take lots of photos because everything just seem to interesting!
Here you find 3 shots of the pastries at the counter. So many! We were spoilt for choice.
School's out! These old school desks and chairs line the outside for people to wait because it can get very packed there, especially during weekends. That was when we visited as well and had to wait a good 15 minutes before there's a table available.
The place itself is not big, but manageable. Noise level's ok too.
Here on, I'm gonna just leave you with some snapshots I took of the shop of the stuff they are selling/displaying!
Loving the retro coffee machine and mint/blue tin cups.

Other than pastries and coffee, they also have craft beers and ciders, and sparkling pressed juices. Prices range from $3 for an expresso to $6.50 for an iced mocha. $6 for an iced latte.
This is what we ordered - 2 chocolate chip scones (comes with jam and cream), a chocolate tart, a lemon tart and a meringue tart. Prices are reasonable. The scones were crumbly and quite good, not too dry though the chocolate chips could be more melty.
The meringue tarts and the two other tarts were also pretty decent! The crust was nicely balanced and flavours were strong and generous. You could tell that they were freshly made.
Remember how I ranted about some cafes selling bad food just cos they can? Well Carpenter and Cook is thankfully not one of them. They have very cleverly focused on just doing pastries and getting them right with the tarts and scones being absolutely divine.
