Cafe Hangout: Assembly Coffee Singapore, 26 Evans Lodge S259367

There's a new cafe in town that proclaims to be part of the third-wave coffee movement called Assembly. Where coffee lovers assemble. I first heard about it from my home barista brother, and we went there today to check it out to see if it was any good! Their website and instagram's really nicely done up by the way -- it was through their instagram that my brother got to know about it, so power to social media!

It was pouring when we reached there at around 3pm. There was an assortment of families, couples and friends of the baristas and owners. A very lively and cheerful atmosphere despite the drippy outside. The place itself is really small when you compare it to the likes of The Wine Company and the prata house on both sides of it at Evans Lodge, where the famous Hatched is at as well.

I really love their logo and design.

The impressive coffee machine, with the cheerful cups!

The baristas here are all VERY serious about coffee. You could tell from the way they bustle around the machine.

Here's the menu for weekend! They are closed on Mondays. Prices are juuuust a smidge expensive but actually as long as they are good, I don't mind. Do note that the food menu is undergoing changes and a new one will be up soon, so don't take this as permanent!

Coffees are reasonably priced.

They also make their own cakes! We found out from Daphne (one of the owners) that they bake their own cakes, and gets them from a talented home baker sometimes, instead of outsourcing the entire thing to suppliers. That is really commendable. If you are lucky you might just chance upon the legendary red velvet cake!

 The decor's really pretty :)

So how did their coffees taste?
Excellent, so said my brother.

Take his word for it. (I overheard that they get their beans from Liberty, but also have contact with the guy from Geisha Specialty!)

What I do know, is their Salted Caramel Buttermilk Waffles ($10.50) are REALLY REALLY GOOD.

I think it might be the best waffle I've eaten in my life?

No I am not exaggerating. When we ordered I was thinking it will be just another store bought and heated up waffle, but no. It was completely handmade, and went through a gazillion rounds of R&D. There were hints of orange in the waffle which gave it this refreshing cut through the flour, which is so light that the waffle was fluffy and warm and ... man you have to try it.

This is my you have to try it face. OK no really this was just a picture of me smiling.

Now you know. Go to Assembly if you love a good cup of coffee and there's no home barista to make it for you because it is a great cafe to be. I would totally recommend it.
