Recipe: Make smoothies/hummus with the Froothie Optimum G2.1 Platinum Series Blender

As you have read, I've recently received the Australian-based company Froothie's Optimum G2.1 Platinum Series Blender (read review here if you haven't!) to try out. I've blended many smoothies with it, and thought I'll just share the highlights with you. Oh and by the way - you can actually use the blender to make almond butter with just almonds alone, but you have to make sure the almonds are completely dry and preferably toasted before you attempt to blend them (because I didn't and failed miserably lol)!

Anyway, let's get on to the more successful attempts.

Recipe 1: Hummus!

To make about 6 servings, I found a recipe from InspiredTaste.net but did it without tahini (sesame paste). Just dump all the ingredients into your blender and blend. Then scoop out to serve with some pita bread or crackers, with olive oil as a drizzle.

1 can of chickpeas
1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lemon juice (1 large lemon) - use half, one is too sour!
1 small garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons (30 ml) extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for serving
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
Salt to taste - I didn't add, it was salty enough
2 to 3 tablespoons (30 to 45 ml) water
Dash ground paprika, for serving

Recipe 2: Banana Ginger Smoothie

12 tablespoons (3/4 cups) of sugar-free yogurt
1 peeled banana, sliced
Half teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 tablespoon of honey

Again, just put everything in and I selected the "fruit" setting to blend for just half a minute! The smoothie was great for aiding in digestion and getting rid of bloating with the spicy ginger.

Last but not least - the dragonfruit smoothie that I concocted myself

The red dragonfruit makes for a really cool cup of smoothie. You just need 12 tablespoons of yogurt, some dragonfruit (maybe 2 cups?) and two tablespoons of honey (not pictured). And of course a good blender. For the uninitiated, dragonfruit (pitaya) is an exotic fruit belonging to the cactus family and I read that the juice can even be used to treat coloured hair!

I also did a quick video about this.

Hope you will enjoy! Honestly there are so many things you can do with a blender, you don't need to come to me for recipes. Just Google them! But if you want a good blender, then buy the Froothie Optimum G2.1 - it is currently on half-off now and if you apply the coupon code "alexis-optimum-20" you will get S$20 off your order. Super good deal I must say.

Anyway I might do more recipes so do stay tuned!
