Buffet Review: Ellenborough Market Cafe at Swissotel Merchant Court

YAY dining out is once again allowed, albeit for only up to 5 fully vaccinated individuals! I was so bummed when dining out was forbidden, allowed again, then forbidden again due to the KTV cluster up till 18 August. But the government relaxed it again halfway through for vaccinated people, so here we are (even though I am only fully vaccinated on the 20th). 

What I had just before the lockdown though, was the seafood dinner buffet at Ellenborough Market Cafe at Swissotel Merchant Court, and let me tell you, I was so pleasantly surprised by first, the quality, then of course the value. We had the seafood bucket version in July but for August, their ala carte dinner buffet is priced at just $72 for adults and $36 for children. That's such a great deal for all the fresh seafood and quality food cooked ala minute for you, freeflow (except the seafood bucket). 

Super bustling restaurant! Evidently people know where to go for a good buffet.

The seafood bucket was great, but I do think the sauce was a little bit too sweet for me. The sea whelk was also a bit too tough. But the lobster and snow crab was fantabulous. Yum look at that spread.

And this Rock Lobster with Singaporean Chilli Crab sauce was delish though, we ordered it after realising we missed it in the first round of orders. Super fresh seafood all the way!

So overall, we had a great time feasting at the Ellenborough Market Cafe. For us, the ngoh hiang, laksa, herbal soup and the durian pengat were the must-tries. Of course hit up the seafood items as well, depending on your preference. We were so stuffed with the Peranakan and seafood items we didn't even try the pasta (but they do have a Western selection). Skip the chendol, but get their little cake thingys cos there were great. Check out my vlog review too of the experience!
