If you are in the Redhill or Bukit Merah vicinity, check out this relatively new social enterprise all-day breakfast cafe called S17 Cafe Peonies at Lengkok Bahru! It soft launched last year and is a cafe by day and private dining space by night. I love that there's another social enterprise opening just a few doors away from the S17 Community Kitchen, which is an open-air coffeeshop that sells really delicious nasi padang in the day and Peranakan food in the evenings.
Walking in, you'll see immediately that the air-conditioned cafe has excellent sound proofing with the carpeted walls. There's a piano at the entrance and peonies on the ceiling plus art of the famous laughing man, all intended to bring smiles and happiness to people who visit.
Here's the menu. It's a small one with 3 types of carbs: pancakes, waffles and French crepes. Prices are really fair considering you are in a nice comfortable air-conditioned cafe with food made using high quality ingredients.
The signature French Crepes Suzette is a must-try for any crepe fans who love the zesty vibe of orange in the thin and flavourful crepe. You can't taste the alcohol but that's likely the secret ingredient to make it so flavourful!
My personal favourite's the French Butter Pancakes with real Canadian maple syrup, fresh greens and truffle scrambled eggs (S$13.50)! It's simple but so good, especially with a cup of iced tea or coffee!
There's also the super fluffy and crispy Waffles with summer fruits (S$13.50) that's super good. I imagine it to be especially satisfying with a scoop of gelato as well.
I'd highly recommend anyone who's looking to have some delicious pancakes, waffles or crepes to pay S17 Cafe a visit soon because you're not just going to eat food, but will also be doing good because you're supporting The Saturday Movement, a registered charitable organisation that I volunteer with, in feeding the elderly and disadvantaged in the community.
