New dishes: District 10 Bar & Grill at Suntec

February 13, 2017

I like restaurants that constantly try to innovate and refresh their menu because that's how you can keep diners coming back. I know its a tough job to do it in the F&B business, but change to me represents an active feedback channel and desire to improve. And that's what District 10 at their Suntec City branch has been doing, by introducing new dishes regularly. As part of their festive promotion for example, was a series of new dishes which excited all our tastebuds!

As part of the new menu bar bites, we tried the Fried Soft Shell Crab with Chili Crab Sauce (S$20) which was delightful. The chili crab sauce was a little weak on its own but I do like the way the soft shell crab was fried just right, for dipping into the sauce. 3/5

Then we had some Papadum with Foie Gras and Mango Chutney (S$26). Too bad about the heavy price tag, though it was foie gras. Again its not easy to screw this one up - the papadum was an innovative touch to lend the crunch! 3.5/5

Then, the conceptually awesome sounding Portobello Mushrooms stuffed with Crabmeat and Prawn topped with Gorgonzola sauce and Flying Fish Roe (S$28). Unfortunately, the combination itself I thought was a little stand-offish. You know, like two strangers who are sitting next to each other in the movie theatre for a date. The crabmeat was a little fishy and did not mix well with the juices of the shroom. I would have preferred a different way to have these lovely ingredients. 2/5

The awesome course had to be the Homemade Lobster Ravioli cooked in Light Butter Sage sauce and finished with Black Truffle (S$38). The sauce was so velvety rich and complements the daintily made ravioli, which was stuffed with sweet sweet lobster. I do appreciate how much effort this must have taken to make - and how on point you have to be with the control over the fire! 4/5

All in all we had a roaring good time at District 10's Suntec City branch. I find the alfresco area to be excellent for having some post-work drinks and bites. There are also some hearty steaks to be had, if you so desire. Check out their menu for what they have.
