Food Review: Christmas 3-Course Menu from Bolonia Singapore, 9 Raffles Place #01-03, Republic Plaza, Singapore 048619

Bolonia Singapore is a relatively new Spanish restaurant that opened at Republic Plaza, and I had the pleasure to try out their Christmas 3-course menu recently. TLDR, it was really value-for-money and a Christmas menu that I could totally get behind for couples or groups to try this festive season. At just $40++ for 3 courses, you're getting incredible value!

The restaurant does not feel fully air conditioned (there are air cons, but there's also massive floor to ceiling windows). There are fans for ventilation though, which is actually preferable for me because you don't smell of food, and AC is not really needed especially in our "SG winter" of December. I love the Spanish decor too!

The 3 course Christmas menu is at $40++. We started with the Heirloom Tomato Salad, which was one of the most beautiful salads I've seen in Singapore. The freshness was also off the charts, and everything worked really well together.

Next was the Onion Soup with Garlic Praline Bread, and while it was good soup with a full onion flavour, it lacked the Spanish element for me. Also I personally am not a fan of onion.

The extras you can add on were a delight however. Especially the sourdough with compound piquilloe butter ($8). The butter was such an airy, peppery and light spread. There'a also a turron cheesecake (+$10) available to turn it into a 3 or 4-course dinner.

The pan seared foie gras (+$10) was also really delicious when paired with the pork and sourdough bread. I personally wouldn't order foie but would never refuse when it is served.

We then had both mains to try - first the Secreto Iberico Pork with trinxar, chutney and jus. This was a lovely dish for the pork was so well-executed and fatty without any hint of "porkiness" if you would. The fatty iberico pork was tender and almost melted in my mouth.

Flexitarians could order the Stoned Seabass with baked stone seabass, ikura cream and salsa verde. I thought it was quite funny they called it the stoned seabass, as if it were high, but I would be too if served with that delicious ikura cream. The fish was fresh, tender and also a little on the fatty side, reminding me of a more robust codfish. I couldn't decide which mains was better, so you just have to go with which type of protein you feel like that day.

Bolonia Singapore has continued to impress me with their cuisine, drinks and service. I do believe we are very fortunate to live in a country like Singapore and still have access to such delicious, international cuisine at a good price, which is why I'd wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for accessible yet fine Spanish food and drinks.

🙅 Thank you, next
