I was kindly invited by the folks from District 10 to have a taste of their food at the rather quiet UE Square, and I go dang, someone's discovered my secret hideout for drinking and food! Turns out I have actually been to District 10 quite a number of times the past couple of years, but I found out that there has been some changes to the menu, which of course I would gladly sample!

The restaurant is split into the alfresco bar/drinking and more casual dining area, and the indoors section. There's also a private room indoors for functions. The decor is simple, unpretentious and just sleek - they had just newly renovated! It is so much more spacious now compared to the booth seats previously indoors.

Here's a look at their extensive 2-page A3 menu.

Prices are really reasonable for steaks, if you notice.

We started with some complementary bread - but not just any warm fluffy bread. It comes stuffed with goat cheese! I really enjoyed this. Especially the warm and fluffy part, because there's just something comforting about that.

We also had two types of alki drinks to start! First up was the Exotic Gin Tonics ($20 each) - comprising of Bombay Sapphire Gin & Tonic, Bulldog Watermelon and Kaffir Lime Gin & Tonic and Fords Sugarcane and Mint Gin & Tonic. It was really refreshing and warms up your appetite right up.

It was then followed by the very festive and merry D10 Punch ($34, for 3-4 people) made with moscato wine (!!!), crème de cassis, dark rum, apples, strawberries, mixed berries and ginger ale. It was really delicious.

And then on to the food! We had 3 starters and 4 mains. It was intense.

For starters we've got:

1) Pan-fried Goose Liver, Wild Berries Sauce and Balsamic Syrup $20++

Not a bad dish - getting used to seeing foie gras on my plate nowadays (heh heh) and the wild berries actually make for a very sharp contrast.

2) Burratina Cheese with Peas, Sun-Dried Tomato Puree and Extra Virgin Olive Oil $18++

My favorite of the lot because of the burrata cheese! I can eat this whole thing by myself, thanks. I love rocket too and the tomatoes are so sweet and fresh.

3) Green Asparagus, Fried Egg Sunny Side up, Sage Butter $18++

Least favorite only because I'm not a big fan of asparagus.

Next up the 4 mains!

4) Homemade Foie Gras Ravioli, Light Parmesan Sauce & Scamorza Cheese $34++

I actually think I would order this again whenever I have a creamy pasta ravioli craving. The foie gras was not very discernible, but overall the dish was a giant plate of sin and pleasure.

5) Homemade Angel Hair Pasta with Lobster, Peperoncino, Basil & Fresh Tomatoes $38++

This was a tad too sweet/sticky for me, plus the pasta wasn't al dente as expected because it is made with egg noodles, so I would give it a miss. There are other things in the menu that is more worth your calories.

6) Grilled Kurobuta Pork Chop with Wild Berries Sauce $36++

This was the dish that made me go, Christmas is coming. It is difficult to do a good tender pork chop that doesn't smell, and I think Chef Luca managed to do a great job here. The wild berries sauce is such a good idea.

However, the winner for me for the night, and of all nights, is the steak of all steaks.

....

7) Signature Black Angus Beef Striploin, Fried Eggs & Black Truffle $36++
(Prime beef grilled over hot charcoal, served with thick cut goose fat fries)

This was epic. When I posted the dish on my Facebook I must have gotten over 50 likes, which is not never, but very rarely for food. And the likes actually matches how it looks, and tastes! It is just friggin' tastic because of the GOOSE FAT FRIES. Yep. Fragrant, light and so satisfying. I don't care if I have to run 1 more run on the treadmill for it because it is so worth it! I must say, of ALL the dishes so far, if you only have stomach space for one dish, go for this and a glass of wine (they have 1 for 1 Happy Hour, check out their site for more details).

Definitely recommend this place for drinks and dinner among big groups as the setting and food's perfect for sharing!
